Pollen Galore

My car is yellow with it.

My eyes are watery and my nose is drippy.

I find myself sniffling, dabbing my eyes, and blowing my nose.

Seriously, How much snot can one person make?

I do know that answer - it is @1 liter in a 24 hour period. But does it have to be me that produces the liter?

I've gone through one whole box of Kleenex at work. The snot and watery eyes dries up after about two hours, but then I walk outside and it all starts up again.

It is hard to drive and have tears run down your face.

Watching TV is an adventure in quick blinking.

I'm looking forward to some rain to wash the pollen out of the air.

And I LOVE antihistamines.

Quick, someone, a tissue, I just SNEEZED! *again*

18 years and counting....

Can you believe it?

Vernon and I have now been married for 18 years.

We have lived in 5 different houses. Moved five times. Had two children. One of us has been laid off 3 times. We have had 5 major surgeries, counting Amy's nose and finger 2 for 1.

Two washers and dryers, one refrigerator, one freezer, two stoves, 4 shredders and one set of furniture.

It is amazing to me that is has been that long. It doesn't seem like 18 years.

Our hair has grayed and grown. Our children are savvier than we will ever be. Our idea of a great evening is staying at home and watching a movie. I am still a cheap date.

We are looking for things to improve for our future careers and for our children. Phooey on the 2012 predictions.

Now if only we could win that lottery.

Eating Right

As you all probably know and many of you ridicule me for, I make my menus a month in advance. It saves me time and makes my grocery shopping streamlined. I look at my menu and make out my grocery list based on the menu. If I am really efficient, I have my grocery lists pre-assembled with the addition of the weekly staples to add. I avoid buying extra crap, unless Vernon is with me and hungry (never a good combination).

I have begun to look at my food purchases lately and realized that even with Lent, we have been moving to a high fat, highly processed food diet. And with that has of course come the pounds:-(

So starting in April we are moving to more high fiber, fresh foods. My weekly menu is going to be very flexible based on the weekly sales at Kroger and try to incorporate the sale items into the menu. Fruits and vegetables, less cheese, more fish and low fat meats. No more frozen convenience food, except the requisite pizzas.

I know this sounds stupid but this is stressful for me. I love having my menus made out a month in advance and just pulling my recipe cards together for the weekly grocery list. But in an effort to improve our health and encourage the kids to more healthy eating I will endure the stress.

The lines are now open for your comments. Thank you for your patronage.

Accomplishment?

I've already finished my WHAP homework (which took longer than I expected), and now all that's left to do is my chores. I have to vacuum. I've cleaned the kitchen. I need to practice my cello, too. It shouldn't take me that long to finish that stuff. So, I'm concerned of what's going to happen for the rest of the week.

I'll probably end up reading most of the time, which is better than brain-draining on the computer or TV.

I found a new band that I REALLY like. They aren't extremely new, but they are to me. The first singer they had went to jail or something, so they got a new one, but I like the old one better.

They're called ESCAPE THE FATE. They're awesome. I would put a link on here, but I know some of you don't like heavy metal. If you want to check them out, I would go to youtube, cuz their site doesn't have any clips on it.

ENJOY!!!!

Time to Celebrate

First off, it is OFFICIALLY the beginning of Spring Break! (said like the mom from the Incredibles when she finishes unpacking). Colt has to get his DPT (haha, I say. haha!), the dogs have to go to the vet, Dad's got school stuff to do, and I of course have to finish one thing for WHAP. Mom's off Friday, and she mentioned something about Alice In Wonderland. I'm SO PSYCHED!!!

Also, guess what?

I GOT A 97 ON MY WHAP TEST!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's with 10 bonus points, but STILL!!!! That means I got an 87 all by my lonesome!!! It's fantasmically awesome-sauce!!!

Oh, and you know that band I told you guys about before? Skillet? Yeah, them. THEIR CHRISTIAN!!!! I think that's pretty cool. I like the comments on one of the videos on youtube. One guy was being all atheist and "How's God real? Prove it!" and a bunch of people ganged up on him and all gave their opinions. Pretty awesome. I think they were all teenagers, too, so even better!

I'm so happy right now!!! Hope you guys catch the fever, too!!

Peace out, homies!

Sad Story

Children learn by their own mistakes. I keep reminding myself that.

Colt got an MP3 player for his birthday two weeks ago. He has no MP3 player now. It was stolen when he inadvertently took it to school Monday. He just realized its demise this morning. Of course, he is upset in a major way.

Amy got the same type MP3 player for Christmas. She left it in her vest pocket and it got washed two weeks ago. It has died a quiet death.

It was their gifts. I am not going to replace those gifts.

**sigh** we will mourn the loss and move on.

It is tough being a teenager.

Junior Registration

Still can't believe I'm gonna be a Junior next year, can you?!!

Anyway, I'm having a bit of a conflict in my scheduling, so I thought maybe you guys could lend a hand. I already filled out a request form to go talk to the counselor, but I haven't been called in yet. It should either be tomorrow or Friday. I'm hoping tomorrow, though.

I've taken my mandatory Health credit, fine arts credit, foreign language credit, technology credit. All I have to take now that would take up one of my electives is PE. I have to take 1 and a half credits, meaning 3 semesters (I wish they'd just even it out to 2 semesters!).

Problem: Because Colt is going to the Duke TIP thing-a-ma-jig, I won't be able to go to summer school to just get the PE out of the way in 6 weeks this summer (even though it would only take care of 1 credit, so I'd have to take another semester course). I've been told I MUST take Drivers Ed. this summer, which is perfectly fine with me.

All the block courses that once waved PE credit, have now had the PE credit taken out of them. Yes, ALL!!

I've signed up for a whole year of PE for next year, but I can change that as much as I want until June 2, so I was just wondering what you guys think would be the best thing.

I've signed up for English III AP, US History AP/Dual (Mrs. Lawrence suggests), Physics K, Pre-Calculus K, Orchestra III, and I think Astronomy. I might change Astronomy to Biology II (Biology AP), but I'm not sure.

If you guys have ANY suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!
<3

P.S. : I'm in love with the song HERO by Skillet right now. I love the girl's voice!
