Just looking at SNL archives and how funny Kristin Wiig is and came across this video.
The first one she did make us all laugh so hard!
Then the next one came along with Will Ferrell.
If you ever watched Lawrence Welk as kid you'll appreciate this humor.
Hope you all have a great Monday!
A small blog about our family living in the big city. We manage to keep ourselves busy with school and church. Throw in the occasional event and we are non-stop.

Got to stay home all day!!
And really did get a lot done for ONS. I just need to print our some of these forms - like newsletter, welcome packet, membership application, 10x10 brochure, and nametags. I'm just a little printing fool. But I will print it all out tomorrow.
Got to finish my grocery list tonight and my monthly menu (not much more to either of them)then off to bed.
I will be taking Amy to school and picking her up tomorrow as she has to take her formal gown for Orchestra pictures tomorrow.
I have grocery shopping and laundry to do and sometime I should run over to the office to do inventory but I think I will just pass on that until Monday.
I also need to get the boy his non-birthday gift. No real birthday this year for Colt, but we will be celebrating the 14th year of his life on Sunday. It is the last day of February whether that be the 28th or 29th when it comes around. He wanted me to bring him lunch on Friday but he wanted hot wings and it is Lent. I offered Long John Silvers and he shot me down. One less errand for me to run.
For those of you who think I have not relaxed, let me reassure you I have taken a nap every day and gotten to read. I did get a lot of reading done while sitting in the dentist office for 3 hours yesterday trying to get my chipped tooth fixed. It is great to just be at home - I am truly a cheap date.
Have a great weekend!!

Major OOPS Moment.
Just got a call from one of my employees.
She only got a paycheck for 40 of the 80 hours she worked.
I frantically looked at the Time and Labor and realized I did not approve for their time week before last.
I had to contact my boss and then payroll and then have them send me a form to verify that "yup, I am retarded and forgot to approve their time' and then sign and fax that form back today so that the employees will get paid before the 28th.
Thank heavens I am not a doctor can you imagine what I would do then??!

Rainy Cold Day
Perfect for being indoors, napping, then getting phone calls that the medicine is not there.
What, does the nurse covering not know to check her meds the day before? After all she called me yesterday to get the pharmacy login and password. I swear it makes me want to ignore all the phones and emails.
Now I am going to feel guilty all day. And I didn't order it because the doctor had not put in her orders Thursday - so I did not know exactly what meds the patient needed.
Truly, I do, I feel guilty. Like it is my fault when I know intellectually it is not. And I keep telling myself - "let it go" and it keeps filtering up in my brain.
I do have other things to do like my menu and recipes I did not get to yesterday or this morning. Sleep once again claimed my mind. An ONS welcome packet that needs to be made. Name tags for ONS that need to be updated.
It is pathetic that I keep running back to the missing meds and that the patient is not getting her treatment on time. Disregarding the fact that we are giving chemo to a 94 year old woman. Don't get me started in on THAT!
Okay, I will move on - kinda' have to before Kane pukes in my house!

Glorious Day
I have managed to schedule a week off with cold weather coming in. It is all good in my mind. No need to go out into the cold. Just me and the animals cuddling inside.
Although I do have to take the children to school and pick them u[p for their activities. But other than that and CCE tonight I am not obligated to go anywhere.
So this morning I have been trying to write out my recipes - you know me and my menus - and kept falling asleep. After about an hour of nodding off I gave up and laid down for about a 2 hours nap.
I am now a bit refreshed and have changed load of laundry, approved my payroll and caught up on email. Next is to vacuum the house and print out reconciliation cards for class tonight and then try those recipe cards again.
Who knows what tomorrow brings for the relaxing mom. Other than picking up the girl from school after sectionals.
I might even steam clean the living room - big commitment of time and effort especially if the big dog pukes on it after it is clean.
I do have to do some work stuff and I'll do that Wednesday when I have to listen to a webinar. Might as well lump it all together on the same day.
Here I come to vacuum!

Pulease!

This is how I feel.
I could care less.
Really.
It is none of my business...why do they want me to know this stuff?
I'm off today and catching up on some zzzs with the TV on channel 39 and "Breaking News" blips on arousing me from my beauty rest.
Tiger Woods Speaks.
and apologizes.
and I made it through about two minutes and turned off the TV to go on about my list of chores.
As he said - it is his business and it is private.
Why do I have to keep seeing this in my face all the time and everywhere I go. It is like Jon and Kate, over the top exploitation of some one's misery.
It is like Haiti. I do feel bad for those people and what they are enduring. But to say that so many people are not working and so many people are not eating balanced meals, but not mention that this situation is not much different from the previous status of things in Haiti before the earthquake. Spin some truth and facts in there - PLEASE!
I already have too much drama in my life working with cancer patients.
What media blitzes are annoying you?

It Did Not End Well
Remember, I was too tired to cut my son's hair. So last night I relented to cut his hair after he had finished homeowrk. After all it was the least I could do after being 30 minutes late to pick him up from school.
He set it all up, I attached the trimmer guide for 1 inch and attacked his head.
We cleaned up. He showered and then went to his room.
I then hear something banging away. I go into his room to find him hitting his pillow.
I asked what was wrong and he says "nothing"
"Well, something must be wrong for such a noise to be created. What is wrong?"
He mumbled, "I don't like my hair."
"Why?"
"It is too short."
"Wait. You ASKED me to cut it to 1 inch!"
"I know and I'm mad because it is too short. And all the girls told me not to cut my hair short today. Carlos is going to make fun of me. I'm mad."
I apologized but then had to say "Dude, it is just hair. It will grow back."
He looked at me like I had lost my mind. So then I said "Whatever. Just go to sleep."
He was still upset this morning, especially as I woke him at 5:30 am to get ready for Ash Wednesday Service.
He cooled down but then got riled up after the ashes because mine was cross shaped and his was just a smear.
I think it is hormones. He will be 14 in 10 days. Whoopee!

We are all Still Here
Just tired and busy. Vernon and I got very little sleep on the retreat this past weekend. And I can say that my daughter got our sleep since she went to bed Saturday night at 9 pm and was then woken up by Grandma at 12:15 pm Sunday. She was pretty chipper when we got home.
Thank goodness it was President's Day Monday. It gave the kids a chance to catch up on a load of homework given out Friday.
And Vernon and I went to work. All Day. and half the evening. I did not get home until 7:30 last night. Good thing there was no CCE.
I made the kids deviate from my menu to make baked potatoes with the kitchen sink - or whatever they wanted on the potato.
Colt was still doing homework so we had to omit his haircut. It was 9:00 and I was just not up to dragging out the clippers and shearing the boy. Pissed him off. And then he realized his new shirts Grandma got him were still in the dryer from Sunday. Pissed him off even more. Especially when I yelled "Get to bed!" at 9:15 when he was still wandering around upstairs. Yup, that was one pissed off boy.
Do I feel bad about it??
What! Are you kidding me - NO! He had been home all day. He could have checked the dryer when he knew the shirt had been washed the night before. Critical thinking skills are needed in the genius.
So, here we are at work Tuesday Morning - FAT TUESDAY. So pig out people - Lent starts tomorrow. Ash Wednesday it is and Amy wants to get marked or ashed or smeared - with ashes. I will have to see when services are and plan to take her.
I am considering making the family say a rosary every Friday. Great idea from my childhood - Thanks, Mom!
P.S. Okay - I admit it - it has taken me 6 times to edit all the typos and grammar errors.

Guess what?
I don't think many of you will get this right because I haven't blogged in a couple months I think, but......
TONY LIKES ME BACK!!!!
Yeah, I have butterflies, too!
One problem:
He won't date me because, as mom said, I don't "put out". It's quite the bummer. It still doesn't change the fact that he likes me, though. And who knows? Maybe I can change his mind or something.
Other problem:
He got moved out of my Chemistry class, so I don't see him at all. The only way I can talk to him is via cell phone. If I can get all my homework done by about 6-ish, I'm planning on calling him or something.
You may be wondering how on EARTH I've figured this out. Well.....
Ashley harassed me (basically) for his number. If I didn't give it to her, horrible things would have occurred. So, yes, I gave her his number and she was as blunt and to the point as always with him. I'm hoping that his answer was honest and not just because Ashley is my friend. REALLY HOPING.
In other news:
I THINK I DID EXCELLENT ON MY POWER NOTES QUIZ!!!!!!!!
At least I did a WHOLE lot better than the rest of my class. Most of them gave up trying to cram last night and just wrote down key terms. I, on the other hand, did ALL of them, and I'm pretty sure I got the bonus correct. If I make a 100 on this thingy, I will go from the dreaded 77 to an 80 at least. WOOOOO!!!!!!
Also in other news:
One of my guy friends that got moved out of my BCIS class passed a message through Kelly to me that he says Hi. I really wanna talk to Eduardo because I haven't in a LONG time and he's pretty cool. I'm planning on physically intercepting him at lunch from going and sitting wherever he sits so I can at least have a little conversation with him.
MORE other news:
For english, we are reading not-so-independent novels (I say that because we had to pick from 7 off of a list), and for our grade, we are required to blog about it. I will post the link if you guys want. My only request is that you don't comment on anything, por favor!!!
Talk to you guys later!!!!

I Am So Mean
The nightly ritual at my house is to get home, make dinner, help the kids with homework and watch my spouse fall asleep at almost exactly 8:20 PM in his chair, followed by attempts to wake him up before I give up and go to bed at 11:00 PM.
But the teacher needed to be working on the laborious lesson plan due on Thursday. Monday night was a total bust.
So last night, I started while he was still conscious at 8:05.
ME: "Hey, why don't you go into your office and get started"
HIM: "I'm good."
ME: "No, really you know you're going to be out in like 15 minutes. Go now while you can." It is like he is going to be eaten by a shark or something.
HIM: "I'm doing fine." sticks his tongue out at me.
ME: "Okay, I tried."
8:15 ME: "You're fading. Get up now!"
HIM: "I'm trying."
ME: "Try harder!"
8:20 ME: "And he's out! Honey, you're sleeping! Get UP!"
HIM: "I'm working on it."
This continued until 10 pm at which time he did get up. But after repeated efforts every 5 minutes with the last set I was constantly shaking his arm.
I proceeded to wait for the weather and fell asleep myself, missing the weather and waking up at 11:30 to wander into the office to tell my spouse good night. And he then thanks me profusely for getting him up.
Makes me feel awful to have to harp at him every five minutes when he really needs the sleep. I am so mean!

73, 105, 92, 103, 91
It hit me yesterday when I told my kids that Grandpa Tony would have been 73.
Then Colt asked how old would Grandma Florence be? 92.
And Grandma Kurzy ? 105.
Grandpa Kurzy? 103.
And Grandpa Bob? 91.
We wondered what they would look like and what they would be like. We decided that Grandma Florence and Grandpa Kurzy would still be pretty nice, but the other two would probably be grumpy. AND cold up there in Michigan.
Surpisingly, the kids did not ask what Grandpa Tony would be like. I think he would be delighted to see his grandkids and would love all this technology stuff. And what would he do as a retired engineer?
Probably drive Mom crazy!

Cellos Unite in Melody
Today is Amy's Solo and ensemble contest. She will be playing a duet with her friend Arryn (Erin).
It is a difficult piece written by a 17th century composer Georg Tellmann. It is Canonic Sonata #2. One person starts and then the second person starts playing the exact same music just some many measures behind. They both finish the piece together. Both are looking at the same music sheet at the same time.
Amy and Arryn have been working on this A LOT! and during this same practice period of 4 week, Arryn passed kidney stones - five of them. And still managed to get herself and the selection of music prepared for contest.
Although I would love to be in there but I am worried I would be a distraction to the artists by them just knowing I was there. My spouse, however, has no such qualms and wants to go in the Amy and Arryn to hear them play. We will see.
Then after contest - Amy has tons, I mean TONS of homework. She is diligently working on it now.
I don't remember having so much homework. But then again, it has been a while since I was in the 10th grade.

Education in the United States
I think this is what it has come to.
Baby Blues
This is the direction of our education system? According to many teacher it is teaching the test.
One can only hope that the upcoming changes to do an end of the year assessment will allow teachers to teach the subject in such a way as to have a student actually learn.
As for students, lets face it not everyone is meant to be a college student. There are dumb people everywhere BUT I do believe that we can find something productive for them to do in life and to become a productive member of society.
Remember vocational and technical schools? How about re-incorporating those into schools if the students do not do well in standard subjects like math and English?
I am sure many teachers would love to redirect those students to something that would use their energy and attention to something other that sleeping or testing or flirting or talking about how they don't need to know what is being taught they are going to "hang with their homies".
Yeah, be a drug dealer, you don't even need math, until your boss wants the correct money for the product, nor do you need to know the difference between a gram and a kilo. Come back after 6 months of dealing - we'll talk!
Hurrah for all teachers who have to deal with this stuff everyday - YOU NEED A RAISE!!!

Tired
I know I can't beat you young ladies out there for lack of sleep. Little kids not sleeping through the night and tummy aches, or bad dreams that keep the youngsters coming in to the bedroom all through the night.
BUT...
I am older and when I am pulling long hours with work, CCE, ONS and house hold duties that keep me up until midnight, I suffer.
I am so tired right now my eyes are tearing up and my nose is runny. I'm going to suck down a pseudophedrine and see it that will jump start my energy and dry up this runny juck on my face.
I could just curl up and take a long nap.
right here.
on my desk.
with people walking in and around me.
tired.
I have an ONS meeting tonight - so - doesn't look like that nap is going to happen anytime soon.
